Buckhorn

Starting from the Buckhorn Trail campground in the San Gabriel mountains.

We started out by enjoying the streams and shady trails, sneaking up on trout in the pools, and Blaze swam and fetched many sticks while Kamui did everything to avoid the water.

Then Paul had this brilliant idea of ascending a rocky ridge - it became my favorite part of the hike! - the views were stunning every time we stopped to catch our collective breaths.

The last couple of miles, all uphill, really kicked my ass... but in a good way. Of course, sharing a fantastic post-hike burger at Newcomb's Ranch was the perfect end to a perfect day of hiking.
