Five years ago today Aidan Bay...

Five years ago today Aidan Bay made me a mama. He properly initiated me into the throes of motherhood by surprising us all with a breech presentation at the last minute of our planned homebirth. With the tenacity and grit he carries with him to this day, he was born into a warm pool of water in our family room in just 4 hours. For me it was one of the big turning points of my life -- getting a glimpse of my own tenacity and strength as well as becoming a mother despite my own experience with an abusive mother. Becoming a parent is not for the faint of heart, yet it has the capacity to open our hearts wide if we let it. No matter what twisty path you walked to get to motherhood, it surely asked you to show up in a way you didn't think was possible. Happy Mother's Day mamas -- you are all truly incredible.
