Instagame-2 : (continued) Kodak Instamatic 50 camera - UK variations .

The Kodak Instamatic 50 camera was said to be first introduced in England , in february 1963 . The camera on the left has Camerosity code "YCOM", to be interpretated as 0163 , or the first period (january) of the year 1963 . The front is provided with three separate metal plates, and behind the windows are pieces of cardboard showing the logo and the flash symbols. Even the cameras from this very early batch show differences as can be seen by reading the engraved manufacturing data on the inside of the back door , and the lettering of the red Kodak logo .

The camera on the right is from a later production date (not exactly known). Kodak had introduced some changes : the front plate is now one piece of metal ,going around the viewer opening and making it smaller .The part on the upper left front has a striped pattern replacing the crosshatch pattern of the early version .Text and symbols are now printed on the front ,with smaller letters for the name .The production would have been speeded up considerably by this simplification .The viewfinder window on the back is also smaller , and this results in a smaller field of view , probably more similar to the final result - the picture.

Production of the camera stopped in january 1966 .
