Diva in Red

Well, after several technical difficulties here we are. This little swim ensemble consists of a boyshort swimsuit, swim cap and thong/flip-flop sandals. Little Diva is always tromping around in all the big people flip flops at our house, so I thought I'd make her some of her own. I'm jumping up and down with excitement, because I think I've found the perfect solution to stabilize diy shoes, while keeping the soles flexible. Usually when I come up with a concept of an outfit, it evolves along the way, but this one came out just about exactly the same as the picture I had in my mind. I took pics and wrote down the steps and took pictures along the way, so I will be posting those on my blog a little later, including the info on my "shoe epiphany". Little Diva wants to go see the "fishies and flowers", so we need to take a little break for now.

The most complicated bit of this outfit was the hat. I'd say the shoes were the easiest. They're made of genuine leather, although you could use something else. The swimsuit and swim cap are just fabric from Joanne. The suit was pretty straightforward. I just drew up a basic pattern and added ruffles. I'm looking forward to adding different embelishments to the same basic pattern to adapt the suit for the other girls. This one can be worn by both my 4-month old and my two-year old because it is so stretchy and adjusts with the ties at the shoulders. Crazy, huh?

Okay, I should probably go see those flowers and fishies, so I'll share more later at www.whitepicketprojects.blogspot.com. I don't want to beg or anything, but please come visit me, because it's getting a little lonely over there! Looking forward to perusing all the amazing new outfits posted today.
