At beiju (88 years old) celebration party
My mom was pausing to take a picture. Our families were celebrating her 88th birthday. She wore the traditional Japanese golden hat, vest, and
cushion for 88 years old. Japanese tradition is that they change to a different color for every age of celebration For example, red is for 60 years old (kanreki還暦). 70 (koki) and 77 (kiju) years old are purple. These occasions shows that Japanese culture celebrates the aged with wishes for a
long and healthy life. While we were in the hotel in Kirishima, we went to an onsen to have a traditional big fancy dinner and spent a night together with family and relatives. My son gave a magic show, and we had a great
time together.
