Old Faithful, Yellowstone NP
One of the benefits of visiting Yellowstone National Park in the fall is a rare opportunity to get a pic of Old Faithful without a crowd of people. It's a good time of year to go but you have to watch the weather because of snow. Also if you stay here you shouldn't have to worry about the room lacking AC. You have to check the restaurant schedules because some start closing at this time of year. Watch your gas tank too because gas stations are limited. The Park Service has all the info needed on their website. It's a good idea to check it no matter what time of year you come. In the summer they might issue fire or bear alerts. Another good reason to come in the fall besides the crowd thinning out is there's less chances of encountering fires or a bear. The room rates also drop. Great park it's not to miss. You need a few days here to see most of it. It's best to stay in the park because traffic can be a mess trying to get into the park. All it takes is a bison beside the road and everyone stops. It's a two lane road and a several mile backup will happen quick so you can imagine. Best to spend the night in the park and get a fresh start in the morning. Food prices in the park restaurants are reasonable and the food is pretty decent. The highlight of the park for me was Yellowstone Falls. They're actually higher than Niagara Falls. I hadn't heard of them until I started researching the park. There's quite a bit to see here and neighboring Grand Teton National Park. It's about 40 miles in between the villages of Yellowstone Lodge, Canyon Village and Grant Village. The exception is Fishing Bridge which falls in between Grant Village and Canyon Village on the eastern park entrance. Supposedly they were stagecoach stops and that's the distance they could travel in a day through the park.
