Red Centre

This was the centrepiece of Sculpture by the Sea on Tamarama beach - a 30 metre circle of red and yellow survey flags in the colours of Australian surf life savers.

The creator is Carl Billingsley, professor of sculpture at North Carolina University.

In the background - the blue aluminium 'look at me' by Rebecca Rose; Thomas Murray and Nicole Larkin's 'ephemeral aura', made of plywood and steel; Marina DeBris's (!) 'aquarium of the pacific gyre' which includes rubbish from the beach; Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club (ok not a sculpture), Horizon to its right, and David Hashimoto's 'moment of clarity', which features glass, metal and fibreglass.
