Baby Blues <3

I put up a bluebird box last year. Living in the suburbs I never actually thought any birds would build a nest. This Spring I was ecstatic to find that an Eastern Bluebird couple were building a nest. I watched them every step of the way, helping them out with mealworms and fresh water. They raised 6 babies who they fed every 20 minutes! I actually saw 3 of the babies fledge and leave the nest. It was truly an amazing experience. I was so sad when they left. I looked for them every day. I had hoped they would come back with their babies...but one week passed and then another. Imagine my surprise, when one day, the same bluebird couple not only returned but brought along two of their babies. I had removed the old nest and the parents built a new nest! Two of the original brood are still hanging around while the Mama bird sits on new eggs. I took this shot today, it's the first time the babies let me get this close to them. I have a japanese maple in the background that made a nice bokeh. I watched them as they took a quick soak in the birdbath and had a cool drink. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. May all your blues be bluebirds! <3
