Luanda

The Hopeful Rise of an African Oil Republic: After 27 years of civil war, Angola is now experiencing an oil-driven recovery without equal on the African continent. Conspicuous wealth paints Luanda's skyline while the rest of the country struggles to secure the benefits of this recovery in the most basic terms. Cynics may allege this is another resource cursed nation where disparity and greed will rule out. And there is evidence all around to bolster their arguments (Luanda is ranked the world's most expensive city, over Tokyo and Moscow). However judging by the pace of development and investment, the jury is still out, and we just may see something different this time around.
