I used a large softbox (beauty dish) on camera right and a small softbox on the left. The large softbox was used to light the right side of the face and a smallish triangle on the left. Alone it was too harsh so I added the small softbox and turned it enough so I had some (very little) light on the left side of the face. You can see there's no catchlight from the small softbox on the left and that shows how indirect the light was. Didn't meter for the small softbox either- not scientific- just went with what looked okay. I don't think it was critical to meter for the little softbox, as it wasn't adding any light to the bright side of the face so I wasn't going to burn out the highlights.

A friend of mine (MUA) and I went for a vampire-look following a make-up tutorial Michelle Phan did on YouTube. The tutorial's called "Seductive Vampire". I might enter this into the next camera club competition and would really appreciate your views on this (I've still time to make modifications to the original before the entry date). Niece
My four year old niece saw this picture and now refuses to sleep in the spare room where my computer is. "Vampire" has recently entered her vocabulary. Her dad is using "irresponsible" and a number of synonyms to describe me...
