[NT] Sudbury Hall. Long Gallery. Oct 2018
The National Trust's Sudbury Hall. Long Gallery.
Sudbury Hall is a country house in Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. One of the country's finest Restoration mansions, it has Grade I listed building status.
Amazing 17th-century craftsmanship and a feast for the eyes with wood carvings and amazingly intricate plasterwork in the long gallery. It’s just over 167 feet (51m) long and includes many family portraits. Fans of the 1996 BBC Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, adaptation will recall the room being used as the place where Elizabeth sets eyes on Darcy’s painting (which is not a euphemism!).
