Skaven Clanfleet Hullbreaker
For the Lego wargaming group John's Fighting Ships. My faction is the Skaven from Warhammer Fantasy. Verminous rat-men who will stop at nothing to consume, and destroy in the name of their foul god the Great Horned Rat.
The engineers of Clan Skryre created the Hullbreakers to raid shipping in the world of JFS. An abomination of machinery, and new warpstone powered technology. It's wooden armor is infused with powerful wards, and iron lining making it surprisingly resilient to enemy fire. Crewed by slave-rats, and with no comfort to speak of these are possibly some of the most horrible ships to serve on. Toxic gas, and unspeakable disease can sometimes drain the life out of less fortunate crewrats.
Instead of a rudder the ship uses mutated fin-like tentacles to steer, and as a result it's turning rate is less than optimal. This can make ramming a bit difficult, but not impossible. These ships are fairly large at just under 100 meters in length. The first ones were manufactured in the 1890s (that's in real life time as these are obviously not a real thing in Warhammer fantasy lore.)
I'm going to try, and make a 360 gif of this next just to mess around. Expect some more Skaven ships in the future. I was thinking of making an ironclad galley that uses rat orge, or mechanical oarsmen. Also likely to see a paddle steamer.
