Cripta di San Nicola pellegrino
Attraverso due scalette si scende nella cripta di San Nicola La cripta trasversale, intitolata a San Nicola Pellegrino, è stata progettata nel XII e ultimata nel 1142. E’ costituita da 42 crociere sostenute da 28 colonne in marmo greco, sormontate da capitelli realizzati con la stessa pietra. Un tempo l’accesso alla cripta era indipendente, testimoniato da due porte presenti ai lati delle absidi minori. L’estensione della cripta ricalca con molta precisione l’intera area del transetto della chiesa superiore, riproducendone anche l’architettura perimetrale. from wikipedia

Through two ladders descend into the crypt of Saint Nicholas cross crypt, dedicated to St. Nicholas the traveler, was designed in the 12th and finished in 1142. It is made up of 42cruisers and 28 columns sponsored by Greek marble columns topped with capitals made from the same stone. Once access to the crypt was independent, witnessed by two ports present on the sides of the apses. The extension of the crypt follows carefully the whole area of the upper Church's transept, their perimeter architecture. from wikipedia
