Newfoundland Robin

While picking through a large (~25 birds) American Robin flock in a field near my home I noticed this particular bird. I had heard about the Black-backed subspecies of American Robin (aka Newfoundland Robin) last year and since then have always been on the lookout for a bird of that subspecies. It wasn't until today that I finally found a bird that I think could be of this subspecies. On this bird note the darker head of a normal male American Robin and the black feather expanding down to the back of the bird. What do you think, Newfoundland Robin or just a dark American Robin? Here's a picture of a Newfoundland Robin taken by Tom Johnson in Massachusetts last May (www.flickr.com/photos/bonxie88/8842277031/in/photolist-), here is an article by Sibley about robin subspecies (www.sibleyguides.com/bird-info/american-robin/), eBird checklist (ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S17769595), and finally a picture of a "normal" robin taken from the same angle (www.flickr.com/photos/c-sclick/8154809753/in/photolist-dq...)
