Mountain Quail

My lifer! This elusive species was stumbled upon quit by accident. As we were leaving a lonely rest area in the middle of a redwood forest, I spotted three of these guys feeding right on the side of the road. We stopped, and I took this picture from right inside my own car. Was one of those few lucky birding moments.
