No just kidding (sorry if jumped when you saw the caption), this is (just) a Pileated Woodpecker. But this shot is so bad (taken at ~300 yards in extreme shade) that it might as well be one. This guy is a rarity in this area of California, and was only uploaded to serve as a documentation shot.
