Baby Bat
Sad morning. This morning I found a large mother bat with a severely broken wing. Next to it were two dead babies, she was trying to protect them with her good wing. On he back was this baby. The mother was quite large - a wing span of about 12 inches. I called animal services and they came. The mother would have to be put down, she was too injured, but the baby they said, if it did not have rabies, could be cared for and released (I lied about touching it with my bare hands - it did not bite me, I wanted to get it out of the sun and out of danger). It was a large baby - biger than than a brown bat - I have no idean what type it is. I gave it some water and it made squeaky noises. Animal control picked the baby, and the rest up.
