One Child Policy 2015
To all my friends in the West still believing the contrary, let me again say the following, please.
The One Child Policy is not only something of the Past but it has never been quite what you have been led to believe it to be either.
Today it is a dead policy, as dead as Mao (and Mao did not start it, as most of you'd been led to believe). Wikipedia, average, daily used history books etc ....
Let's pse stop talking about the One Child Policy as if it is a current reality. It is simply no longer true. More so, it has NEVER been as pervasive as propagated by Western Media. Unlike what we were led to believe in the west, only 40% of Chinese were forced to have One Kids only (Wikipedia and others) and those were mostly the Han Majority group living in the big cities, but yes, that was 40% too much. Yes, people were forced to abort and yes, horrible things did happen leading to the deaths of many innocents. Yes, girls were aborted in favor of boys, esp in the countryside where a boy's labour and future looking after the parents was more "valuable" than a girl's (which is why today sonars identifying the sex of a fetus are illegal here and doctors are by law not allowed to tell parents the sex of their in-the-womb kids and why none of my friends knew whether they'll have a boy or a girl until the little thing showed his/ her genitals on the day of birth).
Yes, today one or two Rural Officials still cling to the Old Ways and unforgivably allow a fetus to die but generally speaking, the One Child Policy is Dead and again, has never been as pervasive as we were lead to believe in the West.
Germany of 1944 is not Germany of 2014, South Africa of 1990 is not the South Africa of 2014 and the China of 1974 is not China of 1984 and definitely not China of 2014.
