Documentation chest

The chest kept inside the Belfry contains the Privileges of the City of Bruges. Drawn up by the city magistrates the documents outlines the rights for the people of Bruges. To protect the chest it is kept behind a double grille and secured by nine locks each with its own key and keeper.
