Escape!
Since ejector seats don't mix very well with rotors, the main cockpit itself is an escape pod that can jettison itself if the Mamba sustains catastrophic damage. It has small fold-out wings, jets, and enough fuel to fly a short distance to hopefully land safely with the expensively trained Gyro Viper pilot intact.
