This view, taken in May 1963 from the footbridge linking Harrow Lane with the West India Docks by way of this station,.looks down the line towards the orginal terminus of the London & Blackwall Railway at Blackwall.
The whole of the original London & Blackwall Railway east of Stepney was closed to passengers on 4 May 1926. The original terminus at Blackwall would be covered by Brunswick Wharf power station, the two chimneys of which can be seen in the distance
The bridge in the foreground gave access from the Harrow Lane sidings to the various depôts inside the Docks. Drewry shunter D2217 is shunting a train of grain hoppers from the Docks to Harrow Lane sidings
Today the DLR line from Poplar to Canning Town takes the line of the tracks on the left. To the right is now Aspen Way, just before the grade-separated interchange with Prestons Road.
