One sunny spot

It's always a thrill to hear lyrebird's singing in the forest. One can hear them so loud and clear but to catch a glimpse of the artist is not so easy, while taking a decent photo requires heaps of luck. Luckily, I took that less trodden track in the Tarra Bulga National Park and continued despite lots of trees and branches lying across after the recent winds. There was also that fair warning in the park information leaflet that it is "unsurfaced and has some steep sections. It is recommended for the more serious walker."

When I heard the lyrebirds calling, the temptation to get into the thicket was great, yet I wasn't really prepared for the leeches lurking everywhere. Yet I had to go a couple of steps off track when I spotted one bird walking nearby and heading toward the only decently lit spot some 30 meters away. Finally he got there and stopped showing off his best side and singing too. I couldn't capture the whole tail though, because of the rather tight frame created by the dense forest. There is always "next time..."
