South Denes Great Yarmouth. The South Denes area of Great Yarmouth was until the early 2oth Century where Great Yarmouth Races were held. South Denes was home to a World War One airfield used by the Royal Naval Air Service and from 1918 the Royal Air Force. After the war the airfield was used for commercial flights until the 1930s. Later in the 20th Century it was where South Denes Caravan Camp was. South Denes is also where the fish finger was developed at the Birdseye Factory.
