Prefazione

 

“E' meglio non vivere piuttosto che non amare”.

“Come probabilmente ciascuno dei presenti allo storico sermone che Henry Drummond pronunciò intorno all'ultimo quarto dell'Ottocento,tutti noi crediamo di conoscere ogni particolare riguardo alla cosa più importante del mondo: Amore.

Passiamo la vita cercando disperatamente qualcuno che ci ami,che ci faccia sentire generosi,autentici e corretti – e quando, dopo una vasta ricerca, ci capita di essere costretti ad affrontare lunghi periodi di solitudine,diciamo che la vita è ingiusta.

Io credevo di aver pensato tutto ciò che ero in grado di pensare sull'Amore finché,per caso, mi è capitato fra le mani Il Dono Supremo.

La sua lettura mi ha fatto riflettere su quanto chiedessi e su quanto poco offrissi all'oggetto della mia ricerca.

Dal momento in qui ho letto le pagine di questo libriccino e ho tentato di mettere in pratica gli insegnamenti,la mia vita è cambiata in modo considerevole.

Ho appreso che stavo cercando in maniera sbagliata perché, come dice Henry Drummond,”per accedere al Regno dei Cieli,l'uomo deve avere il Paradiso nella propria anima” (e questo io cerco ancora di capire - moremare).

In talune parti,ho apportato qualche variante,con l'intenzione di ampliare il significativo di quello che l'Amore riconduceva unicamente a una visione cristiana.

Io penso che l'Amore – la cosa più importante del mondo – si ponga al di là delle convinzioni del singolo.

Drummond afferma la medesima cosa nel Dono Supremo e credo che,per questo,mi perdonerà. “

"As probably everyone present at the historic sermon that Henry Drummond pronounced around the last quarter of the nineteenth century, we all think we know every detail about the most important thing in the world: Love.

We spend our lives trying desperately someone who loves us, that makes us feel generous, authentic and correct - and when, after an extensive search, there happen to be forced confront long periods of solitude, we say that life is unfair.

I thought I had thought about everything that I was able to think about Love until, by chance, happened in my hands Supreme Gift.

Reading it made me reflect on how much I asked and how little I offered to the object of my research.

Since I have read here in the pages of this little book and I tried to put into practice the teachings, my life has changed considerably.

I learned that I was looking in the wrong way because, as Henry Drummond say, "to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, the man must have Paradise in his soul" (and that I still try to understand-moremare).

 

In some parts, I made a few changes with the intention to expand the significant than that Love was leading only to a Christian vision.

I think that Love - the most important thing in the world - is put an beyond the beliefs of the individual.

Drummond says the same thing in the Gift Supreme and I think, for this, he will forgive me. "
