Lock-up.

This domed lock-up or Blind House, so called due to lack of windows, is in the middle of the Wiltshire village of Shrewton. It was probably built in the early 18th century. As well as being a place to detain local wrongdoers, it could have been used as an overnight stop for prisoners being taken from the Assize Courts in Devizes to the gaol at Fisherton.

The lock-up has been rebuilt twice, firstly after being hit by a tank during World War II and again in the 1980s, when it was moved from its original site which was very close to the main road.
