Clubiona terrestris with parasitic wasp larva
by Tone Killick
A spiders greatest foe is the parasitic wasp. This album shows the brutal but natural process between predator and prey. The larva is a Schizopyga sp (Polysphincta group of genera). There is more than one Schizopyga that it could be, and the position (on the back of cephalothorax) is characteristic of the genus.... the spider normally makes a retreat before it dies.
