Arachtober 20th Dicranopalpus ramosus (Fork-palped Harvestman)
A mediterranean species first recorded in Britain in 1946 but gradually spreading across Britain from the south and already known from several Scottish sites. It is easily distinguished by the very long pedipalps that appear forked due to a long appendage (the apophysis). Adults can often be seen on tree trunks with the legs held very flat and directed sideways. It is strongly associated with human settlements, especially gardens.
