This ship was formerly MMS 1086 a WW2 Mine Sweeper, constructed from wood to avoid detonating magnetic mines. She was transferred to Norway in 1944. In 1961, she was decommissioned and then became a survey ship and gaining the name ‘Probe’.
‘Probe’ worked out of Lowestoft for some time with various other old vessels until March 1969, when she was sold for scrap.
Ironically, MMS 1086 was constructed in Oulton Broad and so, has come full circle.
