Resident loco Wissington, returns to Brockford Station, at the Mid Suffolk Railway Gala. 13 09 2014

Wissington is currently the ‘Middy’s’ resident locomotive and is on long term hire to the railway until January 2015. The engine was successfully run-in at the MSLR following completion of its restoration in 2012. Wissington was the star guest at our Light Railway Gala that year as it hauled its first revenue-earning trains in preservation. It is a very similar engine to our own No. 4 and as such will give a taste of things to come in future years.

Wissington spent its life at the British Sugar factory in the village of the same name and was the last working steam locomotive in East Anglia. This makes it an important part of the region’s heritage. It is owned by the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway Society, based at the North Norfolk Railway. www.mslr.org.uk/rolling-stock/steam/
