Blitzed
Not the average Wright Streetlite 47446 SK63KNV of First's Bath depot. No, the building behind on James Street has an interesting story.
The pockmarked stone to the right is a clue. During WW2, Bath was subjected to Luftwaffe Beidecker Raids, aimed more at cultural and historic cities than industrial ones. Bath was so attacked with some significant loss of life. The area most affected was the city centre near James Street and the pockmarking shows the impact of shrapnel from the bombs.
I don't know if it was substantially damaged but in my experience, it was a single storey building that looked a bit squat so it may have been taller originally. It was down at heel but was transformed in 2016 into what you see now.
Also, it shows that if you walk a few minutes, you can have a better backdrop that all those facsimile dull photos outside the bus station.
