The Watchman - Zion National Pak
I have passed this shot many times, always put off by all the crowds lined up on the highway bridge, which is the traditional shot of this icon. Having a chance to visit in the winter and having time to explore I found an angle I liked from the second bridge on the trail that runs along the Virgin River. The light was "weird" all evening as the sun passed through clouds on the distant horizon and finally set behind the mountain ridge. It never explored the clouds around the Watchman as hoped but it did light up all the clouds directly over my head which helped with the reflection in the river. I explored many angles including panos, but liked the closer isolation of the peak with teh light on the face.
