Goodbye Lucy
It is with a heavy heart (I now understand that phrase) that I tell you that we had to say goodbye to Lucy this past weekend.
I "discovered" her 12 years ago and introduced her to the family. And I was on the floor at the vet's office cradling her as she slipped away. But every day in between - it was George who made Lucy's world complete. The two of them had such a strong, affectionate connection.
This is such a bad picture of Lucy but it pretty much says it all. We are walking through the woods in the early spring. I am taking close ups of buds on a tree and decide to take a quick snap of George and Lucy through a bunch of bushes. Lucy and George are right next to each other and he is so familiar with her leash that he does't even have to look down to unsnap it from her collar. Lucy is wondering if I'm going to catch up. Even when her leash is unhooked, she'll stay close to George and I will eventually catch up.
Lucy was smart, sweet and excellent with cats. George says she was perfect. I say... he's not always wrong.
