London Central / General WDL1 (LX58 CWG) on route 270 at Putney Bridge Station

The one and only WDL1. Unique because it's Go-Ahead's only Gemini 2 with the VDL DB300 chassis. It was new in February of 2009 to replace WVL221, which fell victim to an arson attack. At the time TfL had a ban in place preventing any purchases of new Volvo buses, which was because of the B7TL's noisy cooling fan. It wasn't the best of timing since it came just before Volvo discontinued the B7TL, and its successor the B9TL with the much quieter cooling fan, doesn't suffer with it being stuck on nearly as much. Otherwise this might have been a B9TL, which likely would've made it WVL274.

This tends to spend almost all of its time on the 270, straying only occasionally, which is unusual for a Merton bus. It'll be interesting to see what happens to it after the new buses arrive for the 44 and 270. I think it's likely to stay at Merton, and if it does hopefully it will be re-blinded and show more of itself on their other routes.
