WHV on the 453!

Given its exciting history as a Wrightbus demonstrator, WHV111 must surely find working the no. 1 day in and day out rather dull.

 

Once in every blue moon a bus that isn't an LT gets to work on this route. Usually it's a bus from Camberwell, but using one from the no. 1 is doable as well. When the VWLs were still around they would rarely venture out onto the 453, despite most of them being properly blinded and not all that different from the Enviro400s of the day. Supposedly TfL did not approve of those workings, and I struggle to see why. Buses older than the VWLs have worked the route before, so it's not an age thing. They had the long wheelbase, but the LTs are even longer.

 

Because WHV111 used to have LED displays instead of rollerblinds, the front aperture is too small, which means at most angles some part of the blind is cut off.
