Angel, 10, plays the trombone during band practice. The Mill Creek Brass Band is a pilot initiative of the Kimmel Center. Led by Teaching Artist Jamal Jones (36, Germantown), the program takes place at Mill Creek Playground on Tuesdays from 3:30-5. The program is not exclusive to kids in the after school program at the center, any neighborhood youth are welcome. Class is free, and kids are able to bring home their instruments to practice. Class is made possible through donated instruments, and funds raised on behalf of the Mill Creek Playground Advisory Council, the Kimmel Center and private donors.
