GG1 Express

The Pennsylvania railroad invested a lot of effort into providing fast and efficient passenger service. A major player in that assignment was the famous GG1 electric that was designed by Raymond A. Loewy. Because of this unique design and the locomotive’s long service to the railroad, it became known as the standard electric locomotive of the world and grew the PRR’s reputation as “the standard railroad of the world.” In this photo we see one of those famous GG1’s with an express train roaring past the station with snow flying as it goes. Over head you can see the famous catenary system which supplied the electricity to the locomotive. GG1 Model is a custom model and was loaned by Jim Foster/Railroad Collectibles.
