Stand-Up to Racism & Stop the Witch-Hunts
Both the LRC and Momentum wholeheartedly and unreservedly condemn all forms of racism and fascism.
This meeting, co-hosted by Sussex LRC and Momentum Brighton & Hove, took place at Brighton Friends' Meeting House on 1 June 2016. As Labour's inquiry into anti-Semitism within the Party got underway, speakers Louise Purbrick (StopMFE), Ian Saville (Jewish Socialists' Group), and Jackie Walker (Momentum vice-Chair & LRC Executive) urged everybody to support anti-racism campaigns and to take appropriate action against racists wherever they are encountered, beginning by supporting the protest against the far right march in Brighton on Saturday 4 June 2016, and continuing by contributing to Labour's inquiry.
Speaker after speaker encouraged everyone to defend the right to free speech - which allows us to criticise political ideologies, and to make Labour's internal structures fair and democratic, so that members cannot be suspended and defamed on spurious grounds.
