I have had a hell of a time lately with pictures and files and whatnot. My 180 gig laptop drive got full of mp3s and jpgs and so I spent untold hours moving things around and backing up to an external hard drive. In the middle of this process, I prematurely deleted my iPhoto collection, and then realized that I had not backed up any of November's pictures yet. Arg!
So I ran the media recover software, which took about 20 hours to recover about 200,000 files, of which I actually wanted to save about 200. So then I got to spend hours picking through the pile of files, looking for the keepers. The good news is that I have managed to save quite a bit of what was lost. The bad news is that I still have a lot of files to look through for the rest. Never multi-task when backing up gigs worth of important documents!
On another note, I finally got my W30 back from Pentax, where it was getting fixed for the last month. The LCD screen works great now, and they did it under warranty without any hassle. The bad news is that they did not replace the loose body panel, which was obvious and which I had asked to have taken care of. Now I need to send it in again!
Anyway, I have gigs of free space on my laptop now and I am back at taking pictures again. Can anyone tell me how to tell iPhoto to look for some of my pictures on the external drive?
