A Hard Kansas Rain Redux (preset info)

I've been playing around with a preset for Daido Moriyama style images for some time. I suspect my initial interest was sparked by Ruben's "Moriyama Kit" of Lightroom presets mentioned here, if not built on it outright:

Briefly, this seeks to imitate the look of Moriyama's black and white film images by increasing exposure, adjusting curves to blow highlights and crush blacks. Some color manipulation enhances the effect before BW conversion.

 

A side effect is that it expands the midrange of an underexposed or flat image. I've been playing with this on color images and enjoy some of the the results. My images using a Daidoish filter can be found here:
