Shooting for B&W goal: minimize the differences

 

A scene at Pawling's farm, Valley Forge, PA. Using a green 1 filter brightened the green grass and darkened the yellow, giving similar contrast after desaturation. The path nearly disappears, reducing foreground complexity.

 

Green 1 filtered capture on SP550UZ, distortion corrected and desaturated. Raw was used to record a linear response from the sensor, avoiding color correction.

 

Irfanview, a wonderful and free little graphics program, was used to straighten and crop the image. It also works for desaturation but wasn't used in this case.
