Ottobre waistband - step 1
Ottobre patterns don't include seam allowances, the magazine tells you to add 1cm seam allowance to ALL edges unless they're being bound or cut on a fold. This includes hems and waistband casings which means that the elastic casing foldline shown on the pattern (dashed line) needs to have 1cm added along the top edge when I cut it from the fabric.
I rarely use elastic the same width as the magazine states so when cutting I sit my elastic on top of the pattern with the bottom edge lined up with the casing foldline as shown above, this lets me check just how much extra I have to add to get the right width casing.
