Garden of the Gods Park trail, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Garden of the Gods is a 1,367 acre city park in Colorado Springs filled with beautiful rock formations. It has 21 miles of trails and is popular for hiking, rock climbing, biking and horseback riding. The main walking trail is 1.5 miles long, paved, and it goes through the heart of the park's largest and most scenic red rocks. The park attracts over two million visitors a year.

The land was bought in 1879 by a local businessman. After his death in 1909, his family donated the land to the City of Colorado Springs with the provision that it would always be a free public park. In 1971 it was designated as a National Natural Landmark.
