At an elevation of 11,716 feet (3878 m) Forest Canyon Overlook provides spectacular views of Forest Canyon, a 2,000 ft deep valley which was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago, and the mountains that make up the Continental Divide. The Continental Divide runs the full length of North and South America and separates the Atlantic and Pacific watersheds, sending all water to the west toward the Pacific Ocean and all water east toward the Atlantic Ocean.
The prominent rounded peak seen in front is 12,723 ft Terra Tomah Mountain (3,878 m). The jagged peak to the left is 12,927 ft Mount Julian (3940 m) .
