Fuchka--a popular Street Food
Fuchka is a popular vegetarian street food of our region. It consists of a shell made of different varieties of lintels deep fried in oil. It is roughly the size of a ping pong ball. At the time of serving, a small hole is made on top of it and the shell is stuffed with a filling made of cooked spicy lentils with lots of fresh onions, green chilly, tomato and coriander leafs. The final touch is pouring of some spicy liquid pickles and the assembled food is consumed in a big single mouthful bite. Indian Fuchkas are little different in taste and texture than their Bangladeshi cousins. Also they have different names like they are called Pani Puri in Mumbai and Gol Gappa in Delhi.
