Iris "Pond Lily"
Iris "Pond Lily" - the first new Iris to flower in my garden. This Iris is a modern hybrid and the photo shows 2 flowers - one above the other with the green of other garden plants in the background. The pink colour and wonderful frills have been bred into this flower over many generations. Irises apart from purple colours can be almost any colour you can think of , red, yellow, black, white, maroon all shades of pink ..... the colours are endless these days and catalogues offer many hundreds of Iris types for sale. They generally prefer cooler climates. Some of the best varieties fetch several hundred dollars per rhyzome. Being just north of Sydney, the climate is on the border of being acceptable, as it does stay quite warm during winter.
