WOODS OF MIRFIELD 40 JCP240S

JCP240S was a Ford R1114 / Plaxton Supreme C53F new as Joseph Woods of Mirfield number 40 in May 1978, seen in Scarborough.

Joseph Wood began operations in 1925 and obtained a licence for a service from Mirfield to Dewsbury. The route was shared with Yorkshire Woollen, and three independents...Box, Crowther and Longstaff. Box and Crowther soon vanished leaving the other three. Although they arranged their timings to provide an even headway, there was no joint formal operation. The business became a partnership between Joseph, his wife Alice and son Colin.

The company was purchased by Steven Ives in 1983. Ives already owned Abbeyways-Ivesways and Abbeyways-Hanson. Wood's licence was transferred to an off the shelf company called GOBIG Ltd. Sadly this company was placed into voluntary liquidation in 1990.
