AA MOTOR SERVICES Ltd. DT7 PVT187F

PVT187F was a Daimler Roadliner SRC6 / Marshall B50F new to Potteries Motor Traction Company (S1087) in April 1968. On disposal it passed to Cranes and Commercials (dealer), Bishops Waltham and was intended to be exported to Hill (dealer) of Wollongong in Australia. For various reasons it was never shipped and later passed to a youth group in Caterham in 1973. It then went to Rowlands (dealer) of Sittingbourne before reaching Dodds. The type was well noted for it unreliability and the bus required a new engine. By a twist of fate Dodd's had acquired another Roadliner from fellow AA Member Robert Tumilty on his retirement in the shape of FCS482D. The bodywork on this bus was very poor but the engine only dated from 1971 when a Perkins V8 had replaced the original Cummins unit. So in typical Dodd's fashion one good bus was built from the pair and PVT187F lasted in the AA fleet until September 1979 when it went for scrap. This view was taken in Irvine in July 1977.
