James River At Alpine
Camera Test: Nikon Z5
FTZ Adapter
Lens Test: Nikkor-S 35mm 1:2.8 non-Ai
Alpine is more an area than a place. I've seen no traces of living structures in my travels through the area. It may have gained its name from the railroad which made use of a wide space along the upper banks of the James River to install a passing siding.
When I took this shot, I knew there would have to be some work done on it because there was no way I'd be able to get detail in the far riverbank without blowing out the sky. You can see those fishermen coming around the bend way right of center if you enlarge the image.
After fixing the horizon, I used the Smart Fix in PSE19 to recover the sky, then selected the riverbank and water reflections to adjust the Brightness to +90, and Contrast to +60.
