Family Business

These are my grandfather, my grandmother and my great-grandfather - all photographed by my grandparents themselves. They ran a photographer's studio in the roaring twenties of the 20th century at Lake Constance.

My grandmother was an educated photographer, albeit her career as such ended when she left her husband to return to her hometown, being a single mom, who had to work as a saleslady in the photographic department of a big warehouse.

She passed away when I was a very young child, so I didn't get to know her well. I have only a few stories told by my father and these photographs I found after I cleared out my fathers flat three years ago. A part of my family history and maybe the part of my genes that planted the seed for being an amateur photographer into my own soul - a photographic treasure for me anyway.
