Confessional (1)

Namur, église St. Loup. Baroque church of the 17th century, with rich sculptured furniture.

The idea of a confessional was that the priest was to take place in the middle niche, behind little doors or a curtain, while the sinner (i.e. anybody) kneeled down in one of the other niches to confess his sins to the priest, who could forgive them.
